The Katakolo lighthouse was built in 1865 with the height of its stone tower reaching 9 meters and its focal height 45 meters. It is of French origin and its range reached 18 to 19 nautical miles. During the Second World War the lighthouse remained extinguished. In 1946, as part of the reconstruction of the Faric Network, it reopened. In 1978 the lighthouse was electrified and operates as a watchtower.
